Can i say (in a very annoyed tone of voice) that the USM "Presidential Debate" left a bitter taste in my poor little mouth and that the organization of the little spectacle left much to be desired? Can i? Good, cuz i already did. Now, here at an institution with a population well over 3,000 on the main campus alone, how could one be as dense as to expect that even a minute percentage would be able to fit into a tiny lecture theatre (509 we'll call it), without adequate seating, ventilation, or audio systems? Ridiculous, i think. But i won't stop the bashing there. Scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m, no proceedings could be seen at that time...or 10 minutes later....or 20.....or 30! By the way, this irksome little wait was only to be shared among a handful of students and another handful of the candidates. So, 45 minutes behind schedule, they began. A few more students began trickling in, and upon the hour the room was stuffed to double capacity. A single extra molecule of air would have caused an explosion. BUT, it pressed on. Candidates spoke; audience clapped. Some dragged on; boo-ing was the responce. Mind you, there were some who made solid points and are certain to win for their position. BUT! What was most interesting was, of course, the "Presidential Debate".....and why on earth is it a "debate" when they don't actually debate? Anyhoo....Candidate 1 went up......and delivered quite well. She spoke eloquently, made her point, and delivered. Kudos to her. Candidate 2 went up.....amidst the cheers from his squad and the jeers from the opposition.....he, well, um, he gave us the "word", brethren, highlighting from his manifesto, promises that were too thick for the lay-man to understand, and others too improbable to believe. The opposition would have none of it, as the spoke and chanted until Candidate 2 had to pause for stillness in the room.....tsk tsk tsk. Anyhoo, Candidate 3 went up....she seemed to be favoured by a major portion of the audience, and after a few minutes of less than respectable cheering she began. Personally, i felt abused and accused at the end of her, um, shout. I honestly cannot recall any exact exerpts, as her multitude of supporters were providing constant verbal support throughout her, um, cursing....And so, it ended. At least half of the candidates nowhere to be seen, cheering and jeering and scowls of disapproval. Way to go USM....way to effing go.
So, the question stands: On Wednesday, April 8, 2009, who yuh voting for?

Bun time!
It's that time of the year ladies and gents! One exclusive weekend set aside for the giving, receiving, partaking, and even baking, of BUN! Now, here is the controversy: it only nice when u giving and/or partaking! So, for the recipients, it's not a well-spent weekend...tsk tsk. But Jamaican people jus tek tings too literal sometimes. I mean, the most solemn week-end of the year, when we ought to be focused on the marvelous act of our dear Lord and Saviour...my dear Jamaicans can only think about food and f@^%ing. Oops, did i say that out loud....? It's funny though, how some people don't realize that this one little weekend is the ONLY time such activities occur. Just like how u'll see National Bun and HTB Bun in the supermarket roun' Christmas time...same way giving and receiving a gwaan. So, i think it is safe to conclude that Easter is not the exclusive occasion for the marvelous feast of the pastry or the deceitful action of giving it. It is merely the peak time of the year, when the pun makes it too great to resist. So, which brand do you prefer?

Hop on!
So, i'm blogging cuz everyone is blogging. So, i'm a waggonist. Get over it! But, really, aren't we all? At my soon to be alma mater (thank heavens!) it's that time of year when we have a right to vote...for those who we think can adequately represent us...aka USM elections. But come on now, how many of the candidates do we really know? Say, 3, give or take 1. But what if ur friend knows the fellow that's running for President and you don't? And ur friend thinks he/she's a good candidate and will vote for that person? Yes, u're gonna want to probably vote for that person too, right? In other words, u figure it's a good wagon that's going to a good place, so what the heck! You become a waggonist! really, it's that simple. BUT, my good friends, but. we ought to be careful of the waggons we hop on to. Yeah yeah, sounds like something Mom would say. But think about it still....
